NYT: earth's wandering axis
Dear friends,
Most stories on the climate beat, I learn a lot while writing them. But there’s the occasional story that really melts my brain, that forces me, a B student in physics, to exchange frantic, pleading emails with world-leading scientists shortly before deadline to make sure I haven’t accidentally violated the conservation of angular momentum or any other physics principles in my prose.
Here’s the result, on the front page of Thursday’s paper. It’s not very long. It may not even be as trying for you to read as it was for me to write. I’d certainly hope not.
